This course is an introductory legal "office simulation" designed to provide training and experience for a student preparing for a position as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or legal transcriptionist. This course introduces students to the administrative routines and procedures most often performed by the legal office professional in an attorney's office. It also introduces students to legal terminology with emphasis on elements of legal terms, an understanding of standard legal abbreviations, spelling of legal terms, and an appreciation of the logical method found in legal terminology. It familiarizes students with a broad base of legal terms through transcription of realistic cases encountered in the typical law office. BA 1003 or High School typewriting strongly recommended.Offered at SSC and WWTC
