This is a one credit-hour course. Health Deviations is the study of how normal physiological processes are altered by disease. Organization of material by body systems will be used in this course. Emphasis is placed on the most common and/or the most predominant diseases. Brief introduction/review of anatomy and physiology, identifying symptoms, associated laboratory tests, and implications for other body systems shall be included. In some units, usual treatment modalities will also be covered. A systems approach is used to introduce the study of human diseases. Inclusion of course content is based on morbidity and mortality statistics reflecting prevalence of disease in the state of Oklahoma. Prerequisite: BIOL 2214 Physiology. (Concurrent with NURS 1528)
