This course is designed to enable the student to define terms used in engineering drafting, understand basic casting methods, identify metal from castings, describe basic machining operations, develop machining drawings of shapes produced by milling, turning, shaping, and grinding, identify common machined shapes, correctly dimension all drawings, correctly match pins and keys with mating parts, understand basic boring and drilling operations, properly display tolerancing to drawing, demonstrate graphically proper positions of limits, access maximum material conditions, draw all symbols used in tolerancing, develop drawings of forged, powder metal and stamped parts, produce fabrication drawings of welded joints, fused and pressure welds, produce welding drawings, and identify screw threads and fasteners.
