Credits: 2 Class hours: 2 lecture and 6 lab (8 weeks) Prereq: ?" or higher in NURS 153."C" or higher in or concurrentenrollment in PSY 220, ZOOL 142, and ZOOL 142L. Comments: Credit by exam is not an available option. Description: This is the first-level offering in a two-course sequence in the nursing of children. The nursing process serves as the framework for the study of the family during the childbearing period. This course will focus on normal physiological, psycho/social/ cultural/spiritual needs of the childbearing family (infancy through adolescence). Consideration will also be given to selected minor health deviations found in the infant, child, and adolescent. Emphasis will be placed on application of principles of growth and development, self-care, communication, health education, ethical issues, and professional growth as they relate to the nursing of children.
