HIST 252 is a survey of the history of Africa with emphasis on sub-Saharan Africa from the 18th century to the present. Upon successful completion of HIST 252, the student should be able to: Describe political, social, cultural, economic, and other contributions of major African civilizations. 5 Compare, contrast, and identify the importance of various political, social, and economic philosophies and their effects on Africa. Analyze contemporary concerns, issues, and views held by Africans about their countries. Distinguish the characteristics of Africa's human and physical geography. Discuss the significance of oral history in Africa's history. Evaluate historical information and express informed judgments through the development of lucid written and oral arguments.
