Students will read and discuss the works of published authors and will focus on creating and developing their own stories and poems. In addition to the general ENG 273 (Alpha) competencies, upon successful completion of ENG 273C, the student should be able to: Identify and analyze the basic elements of fiction and poetry. Evaluate the artistic merits of well-written poems and short stories, and the artistic achievements of poets and fiction writers. Produce effective writings in various forms of fiction and poetry. Critique and analyze poems and stories of one's own and one's classmates.
