(2 credits) Provides basic understanding of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), AIDS-Related Complex (ARC) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Infection. Includes information on the etiology of AIDS, historical perspectives, signs and symptoms, HIV antibody testing, safer sex guidelines, AIDS in the workplace (including health care settings), psychosocial issues, death and dying issues, homophobia and HIV transmission and prevention. Lecture: 2 hours per week.
