PREREQUISITE: As required by program. This course provides structural theory and rule-ofthumb design for structural wood members. Joists, beams, girders, rafters, posts, and columns are designed as related to residential and light commercial needs. Bending moment, shear, and slenderness rations are discussed as well as code requirements and rule-of-thumb. Emphasis is placed upon competency.
