CHM 102 - Concepts in Chemistry

Pre-/corequisite: MTH002 with a grade of "C" orbetter or COMPASS algebra score of at least 42, ASSET elementary algebra score of at least 40, or ACT math score of at least 18 Concepts in Chemistry explores the fundamental concepts of chemistry and chemical bases for everyday events. Included are discussions of the scientific method and measurement, the laws of conservation, chemical bonding, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, and how chemistry can be used to understand processes encountered in everyday life and the environment. Concepts in Chemistry will partially fulfill the science requirement for the Associate of Arts degree. This course does not fulfill the prerequisite requirements for CHM111 or the veterinary technology program. Concepts in Chemistry is not recommended for those pursuing a career in one of the science or technology fields. Students cannot apply both CHM101 and CHM102 toward graduation. (F,S,Su)
