Instructs students in the ultrasound imaging programs in the principles of ultrasound physics and instrumentation. Covers the elementary principles of sound and sound propagation, transducers and instrumentation, principles of pulse echo imaging, hemodynamics, Doppler and color flow imaging, artifacts, quality assurance, bioeffects and safety. Discusses research design, professional organizations and continuing medical education Prerequisite: BIO 160 with a grade of C or better or consent of coordinator. Admission into the Cardiac Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs.
