Introduces basic employment skills, including on-the-job communication and job search strategies. Introduces vocabulary, listening, speaking, and literacy skills necessary for entry-level jobs in restaurant, hotel, factory/warehouse, office, and other settings. Introduces job search skills such as understanding applications, want ads, components of a resume, and basic job interviews. Promotes awareness of workers' rights, responsibilities, and health and safety issues in the workplace. This course is for English Language Learners (ELLs) with limited formal schooling in their native countries. This is the first in a sequence of three courses. Carries no transfer credit. * ICCB approval of this course is pending.
