The American Dance Therapy Association defines dance therapy as "the psychotherapeutic uses of movement as a process to further the cognitive, emotional and physical integration of the individual". The workshop introduces the theories of Marian Chace/Group Development, Balanche Evan/Creative Movement, and Mary Whitehouse/Authentic Movement. Dance therapy principles can be applied to all caregiver interactions in which professionals want to increase empathy and communication. Participants should come dressed in loose, comfortable clothing. No prior movement experience is necessary. 8 Contact Hours.
