5 credits (Intermittently) Prerequisite: instructor's consent. This course covers 90 hours of time, approximately 60 hours lecture and 30 hours lab. Topics covered include Policy Eth-ics and Professionalism, Criminal Law, Evidence and Laws of Arrest, Communications and Report Writing. There are also aspects of the course which will take place partially via the lab. These include Patrolling, Defensive Tactics and Crowd Control Tactics and Firearms training. The course is not a substitute for the Montana Police Academy, but rather to give Reserve Officers a minimum amount of information necessary to function as Reserve Officers.
