PREREQUISITE: AVT 131. This course introduces basic programming and interfacing of a typical microprocessor, including data flow in the execution of program instructions, data manipulation and storage, and interfacing using programmable devices. Writing simple programs, executing and debugging programs, programming devices to serve as input/output interface units, and the flow of data during the fetch and execute phases of a program are emphasized. Upon completion students should understand how a microprocessor runs a stored program, how to use an instruction set, and how to interface with displays, switches, and programmable devices.
