(3 Credit Hours) A course designed to implement the practical philosophy of reporting, which offers students an introduction to sports reporting and coverage or reporting from specific "beat" areas.In sports reporting, students learn to handle statistics according to news style developing sports features and sports columns. Beat reporters learn how to cultivate sources, developing a beat and get an introduction to specialty reporting. The course is designed to sharpen information-gathering skills. Prerequisite: MC 101.
