(3 Credit Hours) This is a basic course in algebra covering operations on integers and rational numbers, applications of linear equations, scientific notation, polynomials (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), factoring and exponential properties. The course includes graphing in the coordinate plane with analysis of equations and graphs; developing and solving mathematical models including geometry, mixture, percents, and motion. This class meets five hours weekly and will not transfer to a major four-year college or university. Prerequisite: This is a basic course in algebra designed for students who have not had an algebra class or who did not place in Intermediate Algebra or College Algebra on the placement test. F, S
