(Prerequisites: DSPR 0800, DSPW 0800, DSPM 0850) ASTR 1030 is an introduction to astronomy, with particular emphasis on what is known about the solar system and the basis for that knowledge. Topics include the history and methods of astronomy, the formation of the solar system, and the physical characteristics of the sun, planets, moons, and minor members of the solar system (asteroids, meteoroids, and comets). 3 hours lecture, 2 hours laboratory.
