(3 Credit Hours) The text used for this course requires two semesters to complete. The National Electric Code book is used extensively throughout this course and its companion course Residential Wiring II. This course is designed to provide students who have a background in basic electricity sufficient information to enable them to function well in a training environment as a trade residential apprentice or journeyman and function with a minimum technical oversight. This course deals primarily with residential wiring and related systems. The course should be taken after the student has completed a basic electronics or electricity course or has equivalent experience. Since this course may also be of interest to others that have not had basic courses; it may be taken with the permission of the instructor.
