(3 Credit Hours) This course serves as an introduction to the field of literacy for children and adolescents with an emphasis on helping children learn to read. The focus of this course is to draw on a rich array of research on the nature and development of reading proficiency. This course offers an introduction to learning styles and theories and how they can be interwoven in the tutoring process. This course is designed for literacy tutors and is not open to general student enrollment without prior instructor approval.
