A Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a computer-based processing tool used to manage and analyze spatial information. This course introduces students to the theory and techniques of GIS including spatial date capture, management and analysis, and cartographic output. Emphasis is placed on the use of technical analysis and software in order to provide student with skills and a conceptual base on which they can build further expertise in GID. This course is especially useful for Geography, Environmental Science, Economics, and land-use planning majors. Prerequisites: GSTD 0253 Developmental Writing and CSTD 0103 College Reading or equivalent placement scores (3 SCH)
