3 CR. An introduction to alternatives that may be used to replace, complement, or supplement the traditional approaches to psychological well-being and healing. Examines the philosophical assumptions behind these therapies, the therapeutic processes involved, and some of the potential outcomes of nontraditional therapeutic methods. Develops a basis for assessing the relative effectiveness among the alternatives studied and for determining which therapies are the most compatible with students' personal values and beliefs about the human condition. Prerequisite: Introduction to Psychology.
