4 CR. This course is a study of the fundamental principles of clinical chemistry. Topics include carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, enzymes, hormones, electrolytes, minerals, blood gases, and drugs, with an emphasis on analytical procedures and clinical correlations. The laboratory portion of clinical chemistry provides the student with the prerequisite knowledge required for the clinical chemistry experience. The emphasis is on methodologies, automation, and quality assurance. Prerequisite: Introductory Chemistry.
