An introduction to working with children birth through five years of age with special needs including disabilities and special health conditions within both center based and family child care settings. The course will provide an overview of typical development and explore the impact of atypical development on the child and family. Concepts such as inclusion, early intervention, current legislation, at-risk populations, familycentered practice, and working with special education and health professionals will be included.
