1 CR. Students will learn to give a comprehensive, one-hour Swedish massage, using the strokes of the Swedish repertoire and integrating material from deep tissue, reflexology, acupressure, energetic or hydrotherapy modalities. Advanced circulatory massage and foundations of deep tissue techniques will be taught through the refinement of palpation and sensory skills and the practical application of anatomy through kinesthetic awareness. Deep tissue techniques will address release of common tension patterns and allow students to perform focused work on neck, shoulder and lower back. Students must be enrolled in the Massage Therapy & Bodywork program. Prerequisites: Human Anatomy & Physiology I and Swedish Massage.
