4 CR. This course covers the hardware concepts found on the CompTIA A+ Certification Exams (Essentials and 220-602). In this course, students will learn how to purchase, upgrade, and maintain personal computer hardware and software. In addition to hands-on experience, emphasis is placed on research and planning related to application and utility software and hardware purchases. Students will select and purchase the components necessary to build or upgrade a functioning computer and should anticipate expenses beyond the tuition for the course. Prerequisite: Microcomputer Applications I or II.
