Description:
Basic principles of mathematics are studied, with application to typical shop problems. Review of fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions, and percent. Introductory algebra, measuring systems, precision, and accuracy. Note: For students required to complete MTH 115 or MTH 117, basic algebra readiness is better demonstrated by taking MTH 114. A specific graphing calculator is required for this course. Contact EMPS division office for details. Prerequisite: Score of 34 or higher on the arithmetic portion of the math placement test. A student who scores below 34 on the arithmetic portion of the math placement test should meet with a counselor to discuss options.
