This course will provide student with basic understanding of assessment concepts and terminology. In addition, the course will introduce students to theories and techniques of analyzing and writing tests for English Language Learners (ELL). Looking at both standardized tests and classroom-specific tests, the course will provide understanding of the variables that need to be considered when choosing and devising tests, specifically for second language learners. The course will also examine various standardized tests currently used for assessing English Language Learners and will explore alternate ways of assessing students' learning. Prerequisite: Language Proficiency
