This course will deal with the fundamental of data communications in network environments. Baseband transmission as well as encoded data transfer methods will be studied. Protocols will be investigated in detail including Ethernet and Sonet at the data transmission level. Frequency spectrum and bandwidth issues will be studied. Routers and routing will be introduced. Laboratories will deal with communication hardware and network interconnections. Note: Completion of EIT 111 is recommended, not required. Course fee
