An engineering study of the elementary mechanics of deformable bodies. The course includes analysis of: the elastic and inelastic relationships between external forces acting on engineering structures and the stresses and deformations produced; tension and compression members; members subjected to torsion and to bending; buckling (columns) combined stresses; repeated loads (fatigue); energy loads and impact; and influences of the properties of materials. Prerequisite: EGR 221 Offered summer only.
