Prerequisite(s): Completion of or concurrent enrollment in RDG 110 or RDG 122, or exemption. Recommended Preparation: Completion of ENG 100 or higher, or concurrent enrollment in ENG 100. A study of the history, philosophy, ethics, constitutional parameters, organization and terminology of the criminal justice system. Also includes an analysis of crime and social responses to crime; the social and psychological causes of crime; the law enforcement, judicial and corrections components of the criminal justice system; critical analysis of representative criminal justice cases/issues; agency jurisdiction; and career opportunities. 3 hours lecture.
