Prerequisite(s): AJS 101, and either RDG 122 or exemption or concurrent enrollment in RDG 122. Recommended Preparation: ENG 100 or higher. This course is the study of the philosophy of legal sanctions and their historical development, from common law to modern American criminal law. It includes the judicial process, classification of crimes, elements of and parties to crimes, general definitions of crimes, and common defenses. 3 hours lecture.
