Prerequisite(s): Age 18 or older; no prior felony convictions and no misdemeanor charges for offenses involving violence or weapons; no misdemeanor arrests within six months prior to Academy application. An introduction to the police department and law enforcement in general including the agency's role in the community and within the criminal justice system. Also emphasized: police department's history, mission, values, resources, skills and operational partnerships. This course may be taught on a pass/fail basis. 3 hours lecture.
