The Psychosocial Aspects of Chemical Dependency is aimed at providing students with a background in several areas of substance abuse: the psychological aspects, the cultural aspects, biological aspects and the social influences. Psychological aspects will include various explanations of the abusing personality, coping mechanisms, and roles. Cultural aspects will look at the roles of ethnicity, age, and sex to substance abuse as well as provide current and historical backgrounds. Biological aspects will view the areas of genetics, brain chemistry and health. Social influence will focus on the relationship views of drugs in America's legal, social, and religious institutions to substance abuse.
