At the completion of this unit, the paramedic student will be able to integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement the treatment plan for the medical patient. Medical patients will include those having disease processes involving the following body systems: endocrinology, gastroenterology, renal/urology, toxicology, hematology, and gynecology/obstetrics. This unit will also include assessment, and management of the following emergencies: Environmental conditions, infectious/communicable diseases and behavioral/psychiatric disorders, allergies/anaphylaxis. Skills include Blood glucose monitoring and medication administration.
