This course is an introduction to the long-term care setting and the various methods of provision of services in this setting, as well as, the regulatory process. It will include an overview of the Federal and State Regulations and the process of enforcement and survey to determine if these regulations are being met. It will also include the use of Quality Assurance System and Quality Indicators to assist the long-term care facility to identify problem areas and set up strategies for correction. It will look at the standards set in the areas of Social Services and Recreation Services, and in the areas of Resident Rights and Dignity.
