The student will learn concepts of Dual Diagnosis. This course will acquaint the student with the various problems and needs in the treatment of chemical substance abuse and dependence and cooccurring mental health issues. The intent is to provide instruction for a student seeking to be professional addictions counselor. This course is designed to assist the student in preparing to meet minimum standards for AAPS licensed treatment facilities in the State of Kansas and the requirements for Registered Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselors through the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board. Prerequisites: APS 101 and PSY 101.
