Description:

A supervised field experience consisting of 200 clock hours in an appropriate agency setting provides the student an opportunity to integrate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes learned in the classroom to actual practice. It is expected that students will have met prerequisite competencies in addictions studies and supporting topics such that they can gradually be given responsibilities similar to those of paid entry-level positions in the agency, thereby contributing to overall agency functioning. This course is designed to assist the student in preparing to meet minimum standards for AAPS licensed treatment facilities in the State of Kansas and the requirements for Registered Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselor through the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board. Prerequisites: APS101, APS102, APS103, APS104, APS105, APS106, APS107, APS108, APS109, PSY230 or consent of instructor.
