The content of this course is the same as ENG 050. This course is recommended for the highly motivated, independent learner whose placement test(s) and English experience indicate the need for only a review of the ENG 050 content. English 050 and TLC 045 prepare the student to enter English 101 by focusing on writing skills necessary for college-level writing. This course introduces the thinking, composing, revising, editing, and proofreading process and presents the beginning concepts of research and documentation. This course develops writing skills through application and practice within the context of multi-paragraphs, short essays, and other writing assignments. This course progresses from multi-paragraph writing assignments to short essays. Students enrolled in TLC 045 must successfully complete the course with a grade of "P" in order to take English 101. Students should report to the Speckman Tutoring & Learning Center to develop a coursecompletion plan. Enrollment in this course is open until midterm. Prerequisite: Grade of NC or higher in ENG 040, grade of "P" in TLC 044, or satisfactory score on English placement assessment.
