This course will cover the principles of immunology and blood banking procedures using the guidelines of the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB). Topics covered will include antigen-antibody reactions, immunoglobulin structures and functions, complement interaction, clinically signifi cant blood group systems, antibody detection and identifi cation, immunologic disease of the newborn, compatibility testing and component therapy. Prerequisite: Grade of "C" or higherin all of the previous Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) courses.
