This is an introductory course designed to study basic chemical principles. Topics include atomic structure, measurement, bonding, properties of gases, acids and bases, solutions, organic nomenclature, functional groups, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. Laboratory activities will give students the opportunity to demonstrate chemical principles presented in lecture. Prerequisite: "NC" or better in MTH 050 or equivalent score on the placement test for entry intoMTH 110.
