This course examines the complex associate degree study of medical-surgical nursing, including concepts relating to fl uid and electrolytes, pain, trauma, shock, infection and immunity, pre/intra/postoperative, and oncology. Coursework develops the advanced skills for client assessment, the nursing process, and comprehensive nursing interventions for maintenance and health promotion of complex health deviations. Includes a foundation in infusion therapy and practice lab for infusion-related skills. The associated clinical component is in an acute medical-surgical care setting. Prerequisite: ASN 200.
