This course is a study of the basic principles of ceramics and ceramic sculpture with emphasis on hand-built methods. Wheel thrown pottery will be explored. The various processes of working in clay including glazing and fi ring will be explored. Students will learn the skills needed for traditional hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques as well as non-traditional approaches to ceramics. Prerequisite: Art 116 with a grade of "C" or higher or Division Chair'permission.
