This course examines the complex associate degree study of medical-surgical nursing, including concepts relating to neurological disorders, cardiac disorders, peripheral vascular disorders, respiratory disorders, special senses, and musculoskeletal disorders. Coursework develops the skills for client assessment, the nursing process, and comprehensive nursing interventions for maintenance and health promotion of complex health deviations. The associated clinical component includes an acute medical-surgical care setting and a preceptorship experience in critical care, including intensive and emergency care nursing, and pre/intra/postoperative settings. Prerequisites: ASN 200, 210, 215, 220, 225 and concurrently with ASN 235.
