Prerequisite: BIO 1314; Corequisite: PTA 1023, PTA 1112, and BIO 1414 3 CREDITS The student will describe the development and current status of physical therapy and the role of the PTA in the healthcare system. He/she will be introduced to medical ethics, legislation, and the American Physical Therapy Association and its components. Medical communication and documentation will be discussed and practiced. The student will learn and demonstrate basic range of motion exercises, body mechanics and transfers, basic gait training, and infection control methods. The student will explain the concept of "therapeutic helping."
