Prerequisite: None 3 CREDITS This course introduces students to the history, peoples, and cultures of the Middle East from 3000 B.C.E. to 2000 C.E. It will focus on the ties between the past and present, continuities and discontinuities. Specifically, the course will locate the roots of three world religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam in the Middle East. The domination of Egypt, Romans, and the Ottomans will help to shape the historical overview. This course requires students to use Webct, present with use of PowerPoint software, and to submit all assignments in typed format.
