Prerequisite: (R) (W) (M) 3 CREDITS Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to discuss the composition of nutrients and accessory factors required for human nutrition, relate their roles in human health and disease, and describe the application of basic nutritional principles to the planning of normal and special dietary regimens. NOTE: If the student intends or attempts to transfer these credits to another institution, then the student is responsible for contacting the transfer institution and verifying that the institution will accept this course prior to enrolling in BIO 1023. GenEd Requirement. (P) BIO 1113 GENERAL BIOLOGY Prerequisite: (R) (W) (M) 3 CREDITS Through the investigation of the chemical basis of life, the examination of basic structural characteristics of cells, tissues, organs, systems and the study of living organisms, the student will be able to recognize, discuss and correctly apply fundamental biological principles influencing his or her personal relationship with other living things. Laboratory work is an integral and required part of the course.
