This, the first of a two course sequence, introduces the candidate to the field of teaching by focusing on professional responsibilities of educators and the development of elementary school children. Three primary topics will be addressed: Professional Issues for Education Careers, Child Development, and Technology for teaching and Learning. Instruction will involve a combination of lecture, group learning, reflection, and site-based experiences within schools. Prerequisites: ENGL 1010, Passage of PRAXIS I Pre-professional Skills Test, Admission to the AS in Teaching Program or permission of the program manager
