THR 160 - Stage Directing I

(3 Credit Hours) This course will introduce the student to both the artistic and practical nature of the director's job. The basic principles and strategies of stage directing will be covered in class. Studies will accommodate both amateur and professional interests in directing. The course will involve 50% class and 50% lab time. Students will use lab work to complete rehearsal and production work on their directing projects. The course will be completed after a directing project has been produced for a formal audience. THR 100 Introduction to Theater, THR 151 Methods of Acting I or by permission of the instructor are prerequisites.
