Presents the evolution, philosophy, structures and processes of the American juvenile delinquency system; surveys the rights of juveniles, dispositional alternatives, rehabilitation methods and current trends. Prerequisite: English placement recommendation for ENG 111, mathematics placement recommendation at level 2 or higher, and satisfactory completion of ENG 4 if required by reading placement test. Prerequisite or Corequisite: ENG 107 if recommended by reading placement test. Prerequisite and Corequisite courses may be waived only by program or school approval. Lecture 3 hours per week.
