This course is a fundamental study of the human body's need for and handling of food and nutrients throughout the life cycle. Major emphasis is on nutrient characterizations, recommendations, acquisitions, assimilation, metabolism, and functions. Some review of environmental and behavioral factors that affect food selection and development of chronic diseases is incorporated.
